Hoddesdon Lawn Tennis Club have used ETC for court maintenance for over 10 years. In 2016 ETC Ltd replaced 3 of our 6 all weather artificial grass courts with new Playrite Grandplay tufted surfaces over a 4 week contract with outstanding results. In 2018 ETC Ltd installed 2 brand new Madcadam Tarmac painted courts which are covered during the winter months under our temporary air dome structure. Again this smaller contract was delivered to the same high standards we have come to expect from ETC and their workforce.

Little Clacton Tennis Club has undertaken a programme of complete asset reconstruction to replace two hard and four grass courts and a portable 70-year-old asbestos clubhouse. This was funded by the sale of a portion of the site for housing and was subject to strict controls imposed by the local Planning Authority. It was intended that the new facility would include the latest technology, in both the playing facilities and accommodation, embracing the provision of state-of-the-art LED floodlighting and renewable energy sources to run the pavilion. The planning permission requirements included a demand for increased player accessibility, a strict planting regime to soften the hard finishes plus a fully surfaced car park. The budget for the complete scheme was over £500k. The club were looking for four new all-weather courts to be constructed to the highest specification with the best quality fencing & gates designed to allow maintenance and emergency vehicle access. Two sides of fencing, adjoining private property, were required to be 3.6m high with permanent windbreaks / screening attached. Following significant clay-heave problems encountered with the previous hard courts the club was looking for the most robust sub-base supported by a belt-and-braces drainage system. Weed membranes were required where existing vegetation demanded and the upgrading of some boundary fencing. ETC provided a competitive but realistic price to complete the project, using the SAPCA specification, but at the same time offered advice and design alternatives required to achieve the product quality that the club demanded. This involved co-ordinating with both the suppliers and nominated sub-contractors plus liaising with the representative of the LTA who was charged with attaining the highest standard of workmanship. Preliminary works had included planning for the diversion of overhead 11Kv electricity cables plus service provision for the housing developer and future clubhouse. Discussions with the Statutory Undertakers were an essential part of the scheme preparation. Following commencement in January 2017 the scheme was halted for six weeks due to adverse weather conditions. Due to waterlogged ground the design was upgraded to stabilise the sub-base by the use of additional imported stone and geotextile material. The courts were completed for use in early June with the colour coat added in September. The fact is that all requirements were met, on target and at times in conditions unfavourable for such construction works, and is a testament to the efficient, well organised and professional organisation that the company provides. The members of the club found the representatives of the company very competent, responsive, helpful and above all friendly & considerate at all times. We would not hesitate to recommend ETC Sports to other potential customers and are pleased to be able to promote their name via the screening attached to the court fencing.

Great Gransden Parish Council recently had its old tennis court upgraded to a multi-use games area. ETC were the council’s preferred bidder based on price and the specification. Communication was good, inspecting the site both before and after the tender process. The schedule of work was kept to by the contractors, the guys on site dealt with any queries and questions promptly and the work was completed on time.

Slinfold Tennis Club is approaching two years since it selected and engaged ETC using Clayright base carpet to replace its three painted macadam courts with the artificial clay surface. The growing, more regular playing membership, really enjoy playing on the surface which is much kinder to body joints, footwear & of course the balls! We regularly liaise with ETC as we learn more and more about the surface which looks as good today as it was new. We have recently signed-up with ETC for a five year maintenance contract which is working well with ongoing helpful advice and dialogue with the operatives attending. Very pleased indeed and always available on the phone quickly. ETC recently also provided consultancy advice too should we decide to go ahead and build a fourth tennis club at the club with the same surface.

ETC Sports Surfaces Limited holds 4.8 out of 5 from 8 verified reviews, which places it 2nd of 18 covering Witham on our ranking. Ranking weights the rating for review volume, so a high score backed by hundreds of reviews counts for more than a perfect score backed by three. Read the individual reviews below before deciding — the pattern matters more than the average.
ETC Sports Surfaces Limited is based in Witham (CM8 3YU) and appears on our 12 nearest area pages. Most artificial grass installers work within a 20–30 mile radius of their base, but always confirm they cover your postcode before booking a site visit.
We do not hold quoted prices for ETC Sports Surfaces Limited. As a benchmark, UK installers charge £40–£58 per m² supplied and fitted for a mid-range 30–35mm pile, so a 40m² garden is usually £1,650–£2,350. Ask for a written quote that separates the turf, the sub-base, edging and waste removal — that is where quotes diverge most.
